India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM), today announced the launch of its fascinating new scooter 'Fascino' - a new fashionable scooter with the concept "Rich & Classy Modern Retro" design for the Indian Market. The much awaited launch took place at a glittering event in Mumbai organised by Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. (YMIS), a group company that has been established to independently support IYM in Sales & Marketing of its products.
The new stylish Fascino is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke 113cc "BLUE CORE" engine with a continuous variable transmission (CVT). It features a lightweight body with glamorous design and offers user-friendliness as well as great fuel efficiency at 66 kmpl. In addition to practical functions such as comfort and storage, the new Fascino also has features such as 1) new body styling with dynamic curves embellished with chrome-plated parts to add a sense of refinement and class, 2) an engine with high combustion efficiency to offer among the best fuel efficiency in the class, and 3) weight of only 103kg (the lightest Yamaha scooter introduced in India) that contributes to both fuel efficiency and ease of handling. The new model will come in 5 colours including a trendy matte chromatic colouring to satisfy the needs of trend-conscious young riders.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, "This is indeed a very special occasion for us as we launch our new style icon Fascino designed especially for the Indian youth. The Indian youth today represents more than 50% of the population in India. These are people who are fashionable, adventurous and like stepping out of conventional boundaries and set new standards. The Fascino has also been developed eccentrically based on the concept of dynamic elegance, classy tailoring and balance of function and design. We as a youthful brand wanted to present them with a product that could fascinate them and Fascino, we believe, will certainly be able to do the job well."
Mr. Roy Kurian, VP-Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. added, "India has the world's largest two-wheeler market with a total annual demand of approximately 16 million units (2014). Out of the total demand, the scooter segment constitutes 27% of the market, and is growing further year by year. Since 2012, Yamaha Motor has been introducing a range of scooters - including RAY, RAY Z and Alpha - and has been increasing its customer base in the Indian market. The new Fascino is intended to further expand sales in the scooter category, which is expected to grow further, especially among the youth who have a keen interest in current fashion and trends."
Yamaha had associated with Femina Miss India 2014 pageant as well as was the title sponsor of Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2014 pageant to strengthen its brand equity especially among its style conscious audience.
